COLD FUSION

2001

150 x 200 x 8 cm.

acrylic paint on canvas

A vague image of two figures in a landscape: a landscape that seems rather ‘classical’. The dark thicket on the left functions as a repoussoir, a contrast-rich, introductory element to the scene. The repoussoir emphasizes the spaciousness of the scene on the right. It is as if you peek from behind the bushes to the figures. What are those two doing there? Are they in a fight? Does one person help the other to stand up? And what do these crane-like shapes in the background mean? Or the tree with splitting branches?
At the bottom left you see a brand mark, very similar to the logo of Maestro, however with the letters W A C (World Art Channel) incorporated. Is it all about money?
